The Worms Can Carry Me To Heaven by Alan Warner
This book, his fifth novel, is a step change from his previous novels into a more experimental style which seems autobiographical in its detail switching between different times of his(?) life in Spain and his 'Home City' - never named but could be Malaga?. Warner is best known for his first novel, Morvern Callar (1996), after it was made into a movie in 2003 by British director Lynne Ramsay (also made Ratcatcher) starring Samantha Morton. Warner was chosen as a Granta Best of Young British Novelists in 2003.

MLA Bibliography: change of interface

Announcement from Patricia Killiard, Head of Electronic Services and Systems, University Library:
On Sunday 15 May the University Library’s current subscription to the MLA International Bibliography on the Ovid ERL server run by the University Computing Service will expire. It will not be possible to renew it through this route because the publisher, the Modern Language Association, no longer distributes the data to Ovid.
After consultation with Faculties of English and Modern and Medieval Languages and a trial a decision has been taken to subscribe to the MLA International Bibliography as an add-on to Literature Online (LiOn). There are a number of advantages to this:
- cross-searching of MLA and ABELL
- the ability to save searches, e-mail results, and export citations to bibliographic software packages
- immediate access from MLA citations to full-text journal articles in Literature Online
- complete coverage of all date ranges, currently 1963 to 2004. The electronic file will be extended back to 1926 later this year.
Access will be via IP address in the cam domain and Athens password elsewhere. [Note: Athens passwords available from our enquiry desk]
The new provider will set up access within the next few days to avoid any break in service.
